Softball Recap: Los Banos Wins Going Away Against El Capitan

Los Banos was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against El Capitan on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Gauchos 14-2. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Gauchos: they've now won seven in a row.

Mya Arista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Los Banos got a massive performance out of Gracie Orozco, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave Orozco a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maliyah Salas, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Los Banos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Los Banos' victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for El Capitan, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Los Banos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for El Capitan, they will head out on the road to face off against Merced at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Gauchos surely won't give up without a fight.
