Taravella took a 26-point defeat the last time they faced off against Deerfield Beach, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Taravella Trojans pulled ahead with a 13-12 photo finish over the Deerfield Beach Bucks on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Trojans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Bucks are ranked 55th).

Taravella moved to 3-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Deerfield Beach, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taravella will square off against Coral Glades at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Taravella hasn't scored more than 13 points for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse. Deerfield Beach will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coconut Creek at 4:45 p.m. on April 1st. Deerfield Beach's defense has only allowed 7.1 points per game this season, so Coconut Creek's offense will have their work cut out for them.
