Softball Game Preview: Salem Witches vs. Gloucester Fishermen

Salem is 0-8 against Gloucester since April of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Witches will look to defend their home field against the Fishermen at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Salem turned things around against Winthrop on Thursday. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 7-2.

Meanwhile, Gloucester put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Winthrop a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Fishermen, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Gloucester pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
