Football Game Preview: Coatesville Red Raiders vs. Downingtown West Whippets

The Coatesville Red Raiders will square off against the Downingtown West Whippets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Coatesville had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Downingtown East put an end to it on Friday. The Red Raiders took a 15-0 bruising from the Cougars. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Red Raiders were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Downingtown West had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 33-21. Given the Whippets' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Eagles are ranked 94th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Having lost for the first time this season, Coatesville fell to 7-1. As for Downingtown West, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
