Baseball Game Preview: Hammond Skyhawks vs. A.C. Flora Falcons

Hammond is 0-3 against A.C. Flora since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Skyhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 8:00 p.m.

Hammond is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Gilbert, who was ranked fifth at the time (Hammond was ranked 22nd). The Skyhawks lost 7-0 to the Indians last Wednesday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Skyhawks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, A.C. Flora came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

A.C. Flora's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hammond, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

Hammond came up short against A.C. Flora in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, falling 6-1. Can the Skyhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
