Sanger hasn't had much luck against Bullard recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Apaches will square off against the Knights at 3:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sanger comes in on three and Bullard on 13.
Sanger's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past McLane 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Emma Hernandez and Amber Estrada were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Hernandez didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Estrada pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hernandez went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Estrada went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Hernandez has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Brea Poindexter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samantha Guerra, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bullard). Everything went their way against Justin Garza on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-0 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Bullard pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sanger, their record now sits at 14-5.
Sanger came up short against Bullard in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Apaches avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
