Softball Recap: Grosse Pointe North Comes Up Short

Grosse Pointe North had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it seven. They fell 9-6 to the Chippewa Valley Big Reds. The Norsemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Big Reds earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

As for Chippewa Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-7. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Chippewa Valley's part, they got a big performance out of Sam Mondalek, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Mondalek a new career-high. Sammie Nowicki was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Grosse Pointe North will welcome University Liggett at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chippewa Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Anchor Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
