Baseball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Plattsburg on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-8. The Minutemen just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Hunter Meyer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lexington's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-19 when he doesn't). Braxton Emerson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Plattsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 15-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lexington will square off against Brookfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plattsburg, they will take on St. Joseph Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
