Preview: Valley Rams vs. Benjamin Russell Wildcats
Valley is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Benjamin Russell is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Valley Rams will take on the Benjamin Russell Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Valley beat Carroll 27-21.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cam?ron Dooley, who threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Tilyn Carrell, who rushed for 125 yards on only 14 carries.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Russell narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Helena 20-17.
Benjamin Russell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabriel Benton led the charge by throwing for 233 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Cederian Morgan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Benjamin Russell, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Benjamin Russell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Valley took a serious blow against Benjamin Russell in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 48-7. Will Valley have more luck at home instead of on the road?
