Baseball Recap: Riverview East Academy Starts Season with Win on the Road

Riverview East Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past the Shroder Paideia Academy Jaguars 12-10. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars on Saturday, too.

Arliss Estepp made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Estepp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Aiden McGuire was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Crosley Shroyer, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-4.

Shroder Paideia Academy's record is now 1-1.

Riverview East Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
