Football Game Preview: Jackson Prep Patriots vs. Silliman Institute Wildcats

The Jackson Prep Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Silliman Institute Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Silliman Institute took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Jackson Prep, who comes in off a win.

Jackson Prep will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against Copiah Academy on Friday. The Patriots blew past the Colonels, posting a 35-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won five in a row.

Wade Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Aiden Rowe also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jackson Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Silliman Institute's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 14-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Forest Academy. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jackson Prep now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Silliman Institute, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
