Volleyball Game Preview: Von Steuben Panthers vs. Taft Eagles

The Von Steuben Panthers will face off against the Taft Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Von Steuben has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Taft will arrive with seven straight wins.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Von Steuben and Payton College Prep, and Payton College Prep kept the tradition alive. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

While Taft didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Whitney Young on Tuesday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-16.

Von Steuben's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Taft, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Von Steuben was able to grind out a solid victory over Taft in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
