Basketball Recap: Fergus Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Madden Norslien and Kason Brown

Fergus was the 42-29 winner over Custer County when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fergus Golden Eagles fell to the Custer County Cowboys 64-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (56), the Golden Eagles still had to take the loss.

Kason Brown and Madden Norslien certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Brown went 7 for 10 on his way to 23 points and five boards, while Norslien posted eight points and nine assists. What's more, Brown also posted a 70% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024.

Fergus' defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-7. As for Custer County, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Golden Eagles duke it out with the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Custer County, they will head out to take on Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
