Football Recap: Seymour Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Seymour challenged Albany on Friday. The Panthers were outmatched by the Lions and fell 69-6. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 944th, while the Lions are ranked 175th).

When it comes to explaining why Seymour lost, don't look at SLADE TUCKER. Despite the final result, he picked up 117 receiving yards and one touchdown. TUCKER showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 62 yards.

A big part of Albany's victory came down to the chemistry between Lyle Wheeler and his top target Calhan Fairchild. Wheeler threw for 101 yards and three TDs while Fairchild picked up 44 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Fairchild a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two).

This is the second loss in a row for Seymour and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Albany, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Seymour will square off against Tahoka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Albany, they will face off against Coahoma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
