Soccer Recap: Willow Wins Going Away Against Riverdale

Willow won the last time they faced Riverdale and things went their way on Monday too. The Willow Lions put the hurt on the Riverdale Rebels with a sharp 4-0 win. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Rebels are ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Willow is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which somehow still isn't as good as their 14-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those six contests. As for Riverdale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willow will welcome Newman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Willow sitting on three straight victories and Newman on 15. As for Riverdale, they will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Archbishop Rummel at 6:00 p.m.
