Baseball Recap: Downey Comes Up Short

Downey fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pitman on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pride by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pride this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 last Monday.

Elijah Ortega was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

This is the second loss in a row for Downey and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Pitman, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-7.

While Downey had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
