Basketball Recap: Concord Skates Past Springport with Ease

After losing to Springport the last time they met, Concord decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Concord Yellowjackets claimed a resounding 70-39 victory over the Springport Spartans. With that win, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.

Concord got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bradie Lehman out in front who went 8 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. Lehman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Stimer, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 16 points and three steals.

Concord smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Springport lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Morgan Shoemaker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Reese Siefert was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Concord's record is now 9-2. As for Springport, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5.

Concord didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-27 win against Maple Valley on the 23rd. As for Springport, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-44 victory against Reading on the 23rd.
