Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield Warriors vs. New Trier Trevians

For the second straight game, Deerfield will face off against New Trier. The Warriors will host the Trevians at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Deerfield has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while New Trier will come in with three straight wins.

Deerfield came up short against New Trier on Monday, falling 11-1.

For New Trier's part, Henrik Conniff tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Conniff posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matches.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ben Toft, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Zach Perchik was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

New Trier hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

New Trier pushed their record up to 22-6-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Deerfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-17.
