Basketball Recap: St. Francis Mariners vs. Heritage Christian Patriots
The St. Francis Mariners lost against the Heritage Christian Patriots back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Francis was outmatched by the Patriots on the road and fell 79-43. St. Francis was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.
It was another big night for Morgan Bluhm, who scored 24 points along with six assists and six steals for Heritage Christian. Bluhm has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyndsay Laakso, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for St. Francis and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for Heritage Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
St. Francis and the Hilltoppers will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Wisconsin (Catholic Central is ranked 314th, while the Mariners are ranked 338th). As for Heritage Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
