Basketball Recap: 21st Century Charter Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

21st Century Charter dropped to 2-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They lost 96-76 to the Pike Red Devils. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Red Devils are ranked sixth).

When it comes to explaining why 21st Century Charter lost, don't look at Terrence Hayes Jr.. Despite the final result, he shot 55% from the field to rack up 28 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The contest was Hayes Jr.'s fourth in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacolby Donaldson, who went 7-for-14 en route to 20 points.

As for Pike, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Pike's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Hill, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards. Hill is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jahari Miller, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 19 points.

21st Century Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-48 victory against Valparaiso on the 16th. As for Pike, they have also already played their next matchup, a 55-38 win against Center Grove on the 16th.
