Basketball Recap: Lawrence-Nelson's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

If Franklin wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lawrence-Nelson, they should've done a better job of containing Kara Menke. The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders secured a 38-33 W over the Franklin Flyers on Saturday thanks in part to Menke, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lawrence-Nelson's points.

Another player making a difference was Brynnly Harrison, who posted eight points and six rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Franklin's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lyra Peterman, who earned 13 points and four steals, and Audra Goosic, who put up five points and three steals.

The win was the third in a row for Lawrence-Nelson, bringing their record for this year to 3-5. As for Franklin, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence-Nelson will square off against McCool Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence-Nelson is facing McCool Junction at the right time seeing as McCool Junction is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Franklin, they will challenge Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
