Softball Recap: Farwell Takes a Loss

Farwell fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Gladwin on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flying G's by a score of 11-9. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Flying G's recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Lindsay Esterline put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Esterline was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Karleigh Ames was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Jacey Stover was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Farwell's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Gladwin, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

While Farwell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
