Softball Game Preview: San Diego Cavers vs. Santa Fe Christian Eagles

The San Diego Cavers will venture away from home to face off against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. San Diego has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

San Diego had taken Morse down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Cavers lost 21-7 to the Tigers. The Cavers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Amanda Villarreal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Foothills Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since March 12th.

Santa Fe Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for San Diego, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-17.

San Diego suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Santa Fe Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Cavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
