Softball Game Preview: Hillside Hornets vs. Northern Durham Knights

Hillside is 0-10 against Northern Durham since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. Hillside will head out to challenge Northern Durham at 6:00 p.m. Hillside has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hillside's offense. They lost 18-0 to Riverside-Durham on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Hornets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Northern Durham came up short against East Chapel Hill on Wednesday, falling 22-13.

Roxy Nelson led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was AnnaClaire Spell, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Northern Durham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hillside fell to 5-1. As for Northern Durham, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hillside might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Northern Durham when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Hillside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
