Basketball Game Preview: Opelika Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers

Opelika hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Opelika Bulldogs will challenge the Auburn Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Opelika is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Central, who was ranked third at the time (Opelika was ranked 19th). Opelika came up short against Central on Tuesday, falling 77-56.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Auburn took on Smiths Station on Tuesday. Auburn fell just short of Smiths Station by a score of 73-71. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since February 20, 2024.

Opelika's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-6. As for Auburn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.

Opelika came up short against Auburn in their previous matchup on January 13th, falling 56-51. Can Opelika avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
