Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Arnold

Arnold entered their tilt with Kaneland on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 7-3. That's more bragging rights for the Marlins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jackson Ross was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Anthony Achon was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Arnold's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Gray McKleskey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got Arnold back to even at 10-10. As for Kaneland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4-1.

Arnold didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-3 loss against Niceville on the 2nd. As for Kaneland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 win against St. Charles East on the 8th.
