Basketball Recap: Atlantic Coast Comes Up Short

Atlantic Coast was the 51-48 winner over Tocoi Creek when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Atlantic Coast Stingrays were beaten by the Tocoi Creek Toros 67-25 on Friday. The Stingrays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-12.

Atlantic Coast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Chandler, who posted ten points, and Kylie Johnson, who put up nine points.

Leading Tocoi Creek to victory were Gabi Iturralde and Audrey Beyer. Iturralde made all 6 shots she took from beyond the arc racking up 20 points and six steals, while Beyer went 8 for 18 en route to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Beyer's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Asiana McCreary, who scored ten points and three steals.

Atlantic Coast's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Tocoi Creek, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Atlantic Coast has already played their next matchup, a 42-9 win against Stanton on the 31st. As for Tocoi Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-43 loss against Providence School on the 27th.
