Leo Felder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jett Messenger was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Mattie Grisso was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Head-Royce fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Albany on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 8-7. The loss was the Jayhawks' first of the season.
Kaden Choi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Kento Tsuji, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Head-Royce fell to 3-1. As for University, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Head-Royce's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: University hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. It's a different story for Head-Royce, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain University's hitters?
