Baseball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Roxboro Community Bulldogs

The Wake Prep Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to face off against the Roxboro Community Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wake Prep Academy barely beat NCSSM: Durham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Guardians put the hurt on the Unicorns with a sharp 16-3 victory on Tuesday. That looming 16-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Guardians yet this season.

Branden Sigman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit.

On the hitting side, Garrett Watkins was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Ethan Hernandez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Wake Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Roxboro Community had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitchers stepped up to hand River Mill a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bulldogs not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.

Wake Prep Academy's record is now 5-3. As for Roxboro Community, their record now sits at 2-8.
