Effingham had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces, sneaking past 9-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hearts also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Effingham's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Effingham will head out on the road to challenge Farina South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Carmel, they will challenge Massac County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
