Baseball Game Preview: Clark Cougars vs. Churchill Chargers

The Clark Cougars will take on the Churchill Chargers at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Clark is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Clark's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over Churchill. Considering the Cougars have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Ben Roska's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Clark is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tristan Hidalgo, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Jerry Brightwell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Clark hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Clark pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Churchill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
