Recap: Cherryville Ironmen vs. Bessemer City Yellow Jackets
The Cherryville Ironmen's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They managed a 65-60 win over Bessemer City. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cherryville can attribute much of their success to Nate Bookout, who scored 20 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bookout has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Champion, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Cherryville now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Bessemer City, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Cherryville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Highland Tech at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Highland Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Bessemer City, they will head out on the road to face off against Burns at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Burns' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
