Baseball Recap: Wachusett Regional Takes a Loss

Wachusett Regional fell victim to Shrewsbury and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonials. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colonials this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in April.

Wachusett Regional got a good showing from Brady Hughes, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Hughes also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Mountaineers are 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Wachusett Regional and nudges their season record down to 6-7. As for Shrewsbury, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.

Coming up, Wachusett Regional is taking a road trip to take on Boston College High at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mountaineers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Shrewsbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Longmeadow at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
