Basketball Recap: Kylie Pautler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead STEM School Highlands Ranch over Alameda

STEM School Highlands Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They fell 33-23 to the Alameda Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-6 back in December of 2024.

STEM School Highlands Ranch's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Pautler, who posted five points in addition to 17 rebounds and five steals. Those 17 boards gave Pautler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Hegemann, who put up eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Alameda's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Claire To, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine steals. To has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Victoria Sandoval was another key player, putting up no points and seven steals.

STEM School Highlands Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Alameda, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

STEM School Highlands Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 26-15 win against Poudre Community Academy on the 12th. As for Alameda, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-32 defeat against Jefferson on the 11th.
