Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seacrest Country Day). They put the hurt on the Lely Trojans with a sharp 12-2 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Stingrays brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Caroline Porter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolie Booth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kami Gray was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Seacrest Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lely only posted an OBP of .273.
Seacrest Country Day's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Lely, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seacrest Country Day will head out to challenge Everglades City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lely, they will venture away from home to face off against Cypress Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
