Basketball Recap: Hedley Comes Up Short

Hedley came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Memphis Cyclones, falling 78-23. The Owls lost against the Cyclones in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 68-46 score last time.

Despite the loss, Hedley had strong showings from Josue Prieto, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points and five boards, and Payton Inman, who posted nine points and four steals. That was a full 39.1% of the Owls' points, marking the fifth time in a row Inman has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Hedley now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Memphis, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Hedley has already played their next contest, a 52-36 defeat against Paducah on the 5th. As for Memphis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-48 win against Fort Elliott on the 5th.
