Baseball Game Preview: River Valley Mustangs vs. Buchanan Bucks

The River Valley Mustangs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Buchanan Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. River Valley will be strutting in after a win while Buchanan will be coming in after a loss.

River Valley barely beat Our Lady of the Lake Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Lakers 9-2 on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Buchanan suffered their closest defeat since May 1, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Portage Central by a score of 7-5.

Jake Franklin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Buchanan dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

River Valley took their victory against Buchanan in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 19-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
