Softball Recap: Baird Starts Season with Win on the Road

Baird had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 23-9 margin over the Trent Gorillas on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Raelyn Goodwin was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Lyndsi Boyd was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while going 4-for-4.

Baird was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Coming up, Baird will venture away from home to face off against Roby at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Trent, they will square off against Westbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Trent is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
