Softball Recap: Lincoln Gets the Win

Lincoln's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the St. John Paul II Panthers by a score of 7-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-9 two weeks ago.

Gabbi Coulter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Lanie Woodson and Kayleigh Eikeland did most of the damage at the plate: Woodson scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Eikeland scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Eikeland a new career-high.

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for St. John Paul II, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Lincoln will challenge Chiles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Timberwolves will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. John Paul II, they will be playing at home against Franklin County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
