Baseball Game Preview: Hialeah Thoroughbreds vs. Downtown Doral Dolphins

The Hialeah Thoroughbreds are taking a road trip to square off against the Downtown Doral Dolphins at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Hialeah and ten for Downtown Doral.

Hialeah came up short against Miami Beach on Wednesday, falling 14-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Thoroughbreds have suffered against the Hi-Tides since April 6, 2016.

Hialeah got a good showing from Cody Gomez, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Gomez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joshua Giron made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Downtown Doral came up short against Hialeah Gardens on Wednesday and fell 10-5.

Hialeah's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Downtown Doral, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
