Basketball Recap: Michael Olivar and Channing Wilson Secure Win for Fort Thomas

Fort Thomas won the last time they faced Joseph City and things went their way on Friday too. The Fort Thomas Apaches snuck past the Joseph City Wildcats with an 86-81 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Apaches.

Fort Thomas was led to victory by Channing Wilson and Michael Olivar. Wilson went 10 for 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 42 points, while Olivar dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Olivar is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Runyon Kinney was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Fort Thomas was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Eli James and Cort Miller certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. James went 9 of 20 to rack up 24 points and five steals, while Miller went 8 for 16 en route to 23 points and four steals. James' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaimen Tsosie, who posted eight points and five steals.

Fort Thomas' record now sits at 19-9. As for Joseph City, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-6.

Fort Thomas has already played their next matchup, a 61-58 loss against St. Michael on the 1st. As for Joseph City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-63 win against Williams on the 4th.
