Softball Recap: Randolph Takes a Loss

Randolph had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-5 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Ripon Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Rockets couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Ripon, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 4-9 record. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Ripon's part, Addisyn Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Bryn Carlson and Bella Klettke did most of the damage at the plate: Carlson went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Klettke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Klettke has posted since back in April of 2024. Gabi Gaffney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Coming up, Randolph will be playing in front of their home fans against Pardeeville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.9 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ripon, they will challenge Kettle Moraine Lutheran at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
