Baseball Recap: Tulsa NOAH Homeschool Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Oklahoma City Broncos HomeSchool, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Broncos 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Broncos back in March, they had to take a 13-4 defeat.

Gabe Mathews was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 4-2 (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Mathews was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Mathews wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trey Salyers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one double. Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool is undefeated when Salyers posts one or more home runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oklahoma City Broncos HomeSchool, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8-2.
