Softball Game Preview: Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers vs. Cherry Tigers

Mountain Iron-Buhl hasn't had much luck against Cherry recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rangers will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Iron-Buhl has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain Iron-Buhl came up short against International Falls on Wednesday, falling 16-6. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cherry). They put the hurt on International Falls with a sharp 11-0 win on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Cherry has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Mountain Iron-Buhl couldn't quite finish off Cherry when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
