Flag Football Recap: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Desert Mountain Wolves

Mountain Pointe had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it four. They fell 17-7 to the Desert Mountain Wolves. The Pride were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Mountain Pointe lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Amillia Mambru, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Mountain Pointe's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Malia Cooks.

As for Desert Mountain, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.3 points on average over those games.

Desert Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caroline Workman, who threw for 130 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 64 yards on only nine carries. Workman didn't just play on offense: she also made six total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which she returned one-yard for a touchdown.
