Recap: Carlsbad Lancers vs. St. Augustine Saints

Even though the Carlsbad Lancers have not done well against the St. Augustine Saints recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Carlsbad pulled ahead with a 75-74 photo finish over St. Augustine. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Carlsbad's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Duckett, who scored 25 points. The matchup was Duckett's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jael Martin, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 blocks.

The victory (which was Carlsbad's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.5 points per game. As for St. Augustine, their loss dropped their record down to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlsbad will take on Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Del Norte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Carlsbad is ranked 34th). As for St. Augustine, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Victory Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
