Basketball Recap: Millard Comes Up Short

If Millard was riding high fresh off their 56-28 takedown of Milford last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Millard Eagles came up short against the Beaver Beavers on Tuesday, falling 71-46. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Beavers are ranked 22nd).

Despite the loss, Millard saw an underclassman step up: freshman Blakelie Davies posted 15 points and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Davies. Another player making a difference was Josie Aleman, who had six points.

Even though they lost, Millard was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Millard now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Beaver, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Millard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-31 defeat against South Sevier on the 19th. As for Beaver, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-20 victory against Water Canyon on the 19th.
