Baseball Recap: Augusta Takes a Loss

Augusta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to the Alma Center Lincoln Hornets. The Beavers were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Bryce Buttke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.

Augusta's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Alma Center Lincoln, they moved to 2-6 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Augusta and Alma Center Lincoln could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Beavers will challenge Melrose-Mindoro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (369 vs. 127). Meanwhile, Alma Center Lincoln (ranked 348th) will meet Osseo-Fairchild (ranked 140th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
