Baseball Recap: Prospect's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Prospect dropped their record down to 14-6-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 10-5 to the Conant Cougars. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Logan Nordentoft made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of John Aquino, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Conant, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

On Conant's side, Alex Martinez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Martinez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luis Avila was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Lipka, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Prospect will venture away from home to take on Naperville Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Conant, they will welcome Glenbrook North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
