Basketball Game Preview: Eaton Eagles vs. Franklin Wildcats

Eaton is 1-9 against Franklin since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eaton Eagles will host the Franklin Wildcats at 7:15 p.m.

Eaton is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They lost to Carlisle at home by a 80-65 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while the Indians are ranked 296th).

Meanwhile, Franklin had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 46-42 W over Ross on Friday.

Franklin had a senior duo take command as Christian Mcguire went 7 for 10 en route to 20 points and Kai Cook went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cook has scored at least a third of Franklin's points.

Franklin's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6. As for Eaton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Eaton came up short against Franklin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 50-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cook, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 31 points and five boards. Now that Eaton knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
